In the spring, Sotheby’s international auction house was forced to close its doors amid the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to preserve the safety and health of their customers, some of their outstanding projects were effected online.
Following a long wait, Sotheby’s has announced their summer and autumn auction schedule to its affiliates around the world. You can read more about this on their official website, but here is a quick rundown of their new rules which are vital to those wanting to attend any upcoming event.
In most branches of Sotheby’s pre-registration will be mandatory before entering any auction house. You will need to contact Sotheby’s and add your details to their membership list before your visit.
Prior to entering the auction house, all guests will have to undergo a temperature test which will be carried out quickly and safely with the help of medical personnel.
Wearing masks continues to be compulsory, especially indoors. In some cases Sotheby’s branches will be able to supply masks to those who forget.
Please be assured that you do not have to worry about your level of safety when visiting any of Sotheby’s auction houses – all branches are paying enhanced levels of attention to the health and wellbeing of their patrons.
Sanitation measures have been augmented with regular disinfection taking place, access to hand sanitizing equipment and the interior rooms have been modified in-keeping with social distancing.
Of course, there is no denying that the pandemic has resulted in us all making lots of adjustments; but life is now creeping back towards a new type of normal and the opening of the auction houses are a promising reminder of this.
