Dubai will have the world's first city-wide electric air taxi service by 2026
Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement with Skyports Infrastructure and Joby Aviation to launch passenger air taxi services.
The parties will:
– RTA – regulate services
– Joby Aviation – manufacture and operate electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts
– Skyports Infrastructure – operate vertiports (facilities for eVTOLs)
The initial network will include 4 vertiports. The air taxi will reduce journey times:
Dubai International Airport (DXB) – Palm Jumeirah from 45 mins by car to 10 mins
Dubai welcomed a record 17 million international visitors in 2023.
It rose by 19.4% compared to 2022, exceeding the pre-pandemic figures.
